چکیده

Plant chemistry plays an important role in mediating resistance against insect herbivores. Depending on species and feeding strategies, plant defenses can prevent attacks, impact digestive physiology influence reproductive output. The Asian longhorned beetle (Anoplophora glabripennis) is invasive, tree-killing that exploits multiple host species. Anoplophora glabripennis documented to attack Populus spp., but the ability for adults consume varies between populations. In this study, we explored of salicinoid phenolic glycosides, known be potent chemical generalist insects, A. adult behavior fecundity. We performed a series choice- no-choice experiments using extracts salicinoids applied plants do not produce these compounds. Salicinoids affected performance dose-dependent manner, with higher concentrations significantly reducing feeding. Egg development was reduced by > 90% females fed at ~ 1.3% dry weight. then compared present material vs. frass found both decrease concentration shift composition However, some more complex were unchanged excrement, suggesting minimal detoxification had occurred. Our results show disrupt egg glabripennis, thereby fitness. These have implications how metabolizes defense chemicals tolerance may vary among

Contrasting diets reveal metabolic plasticity in the tree-killing beetle, Anoplophora glabripennis (Cerambycidae: Lamiinae)

Wood-feeding insects encounter challenging diets containing low protein quantities, recalcitrant carbohydrate sources, and plant defensive compounds. The Asian longhorned beetle (Anoplophora glabripennis) is a wood-feeding insect that attacks and kills a diversity of hardwood tree species. We compared gene expression of midguts collected from larvae feeding in a preferred tree, sugar maple, to ...

Toxicity of ethanedinitrile to Anoplophora glabripennis (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) larvae.

The mortality of naked Anoplophora glabripennis Motschulsky (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) larvae exposed to ethanedinitrile (cyanogen; C2N2) varied with temperature, time of exposure, and dose of ethanedinitrile. The concentration x time (Ct) product of ethanedinitrile over a range of temperatures (4.4, 10.1, 15.6, and 20.1 degrees C) decreased with increasing temperature, for both 3- and 6-h expo...

Antennal transcriptome analysis of the Asian longhorned beetle Anoplophora glabripennis

Olfactory proteins form the basis of insect olfactory recognition, which is crucial for host identification, mating, and oviposition. Using transcriptome analysis of Anoplophora glabripennis antenna, we identified 42 odorant-binding proteins (OBPs), 12 chemosensory proteins (CSPs), 14 pheromone-degrading enzymes (PDEs), 1 odorant-degrading enzymes (ODE), 37 odorant receptors (ORs), 11 gustatory...

Life-cycle Feeding Programs for Egg Production

Feeding management of egg laying strains involves both feed formulation. and feeding strategy. Life-cycle programs should be developed at day-of-age and be geared to desired production goals in the layer barn. Manipulation of juvenile growth can be accomplished in relation to these goals, the main parameters being mature body weight and age at sexual maturity. Growth of the immature pullet, esp...

Phylogenetic Analysis of Fusarium solani Associated with the Asian Longhorned Beetle, Anoplophora glabripennis

Culture-independent analysis of the gut of a wood-boring insect, Anoplophora glabripennis (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae), revealed a consistent association between members of the fungal Fusarium solani species complex and the larval stage of both colony-derived and wild A. glabripennis populations. Using the translation elongation factor 1-alpha region for culture-independent phylogenetic and opera...
